Update!

‘Without music to decorate it, time is just a bunch of boring production deadlines or dates by which bills must be paid’

It’s been a hectic two years and this carefully crafted website, this cherished communication-tool that’s been so helpful in giving you, faithful visitor, a voice to be reckoned with, has been totally neglected.
Therefore 2 Many DJ’s have appointed me, Angus De Mille, to update you with the latest, inside news.

But first, to those who danced their feet off and screamed their lungs out at all the clubs and festivals around the world, everyone who has supported us during all this time of painful silence: many, many thanks!

It was fascinating to watch how big a role the internet played in the life of the 2manydjs album, which outdid everyone’s expectations successwise in a time where apparently noone buys music anymore.

So, time for a much needed update. The chat room has been buzzing with talk from day one, and we have received plenty of e-mails with questions, suggestions and shout outs of all sorts.
A few of the recurrent questions are answered here:

‘Is there going to be a follow up to ‘2 Many DJ’s – As heard on radio Soulwax part 2’?’

-For the record: There’s only one official 2 Many DJ’s album.
Shrewd moneymakers have released a ridiculous amount of other volumes, and are selling them in shops and on the internet. These are not official 2 Many DJ’s albums! Most of these bootlegs contain one hour mixes made for a radioshow called ‘Hang The DJ’, which was broadcast on the Belgian radio station Studio Brussel. They were never intended for release, nor were they cleared with any of the artists. Some of these mixes are quite old (up to 4 years), and there are even copies out there which aren’t mixed by 2 Many DJ’s at all, so beware of imitations. Please don’t spend your money on these cheeky CD’s. There are places on the internet where you can download them for free, so we hear...
As for an official follow up: Never say never

‘Where do I find the ‘hidden’ Kylie track on the CD?’

-For those who still haven’t got it: You’ll find the Kylie remix BEFORE the Emerson, Lake & Palmer-track.
All you have to do is insert the cd , press the “play” button so it starts to play the first track, REWIND 00 minutes and 00 seconds and presto! Keep in mind that this does not seem to work on all cd players. We don’t know why, there seems to be no rule as to which ones do and which don’t allow playing before zero timecode. It’s probably not a priority for cd player manufacturers…

‘What is the next Soulwax album going to be like?’

-As you are reading this, the album is finally – dare I say? – finished. Contrary to what some of you 2manydjs fans think, this is not a mixalbum, nor is it a “project” with guest vocalists. It is a full fledged album containing original songs written and performed by the band soulwax. It was recorded mainly in London and in Gent under the experienced supervision of Flood (and mixed by Alan Moulder), who produced albums for the likes of U2, Nitzer Ebb, Depeche Mode, PJ Harvey, Smashing Pumpkins and Nine Inch Nails. The album has the apt title of “Any Minute Now” and will also feature as-yet-unnamed cameo appearances, and artwork from Trevor Jackson. A first single is set to come out for the summer, the full album by the end of August - by which time the band will hit the stage. Future live dates and more info on the band will be at your display on www.soulwax.com .

‘Do you have a list of remixes you have done, shows you have played/will play, tracks you like, other stuff you’re involved in, etc.’

-there are enough places on the internet where one can find endless rumours and lists of sets and mixes , so on 2manydjs.org we are going to try to give you some info you won’t necessarily find anywhere else. Well that, and tourdates.

So in between gigs around the world and being locked up in the studio for the soulwax album, Steph and Dave found time to compile and compose tracks for ‘Steve + Sky’, their friend and fellow Gantois Felix van Groeningen’s debut feature film. (original soundtrack on PIAS soon).
Even more surprisingly they found energy to get together in their studio with Canadian friend Tiga to produce his forthcoming album (due later this year). More about this later, so be sure to drop in once in a while. Stay tuned, be good, and if you can’t be good: be careful.

Adios,

Angus De Mille.
